Great product
Nice quality product from Canon. It allows me to use the higher qualtiy lens cover by Canon that I also purchased as opposed to the flimsy one that came with my S5IS.

Hood and converter lens
Great product. You do need to buy this if you want to attach other lenses to your camera.

Lens safety
I am Deployed to Kosovo, I feel that (if anything) the lens adapter is well worth the cost for the simple fact I dont have to baby the camera in a hostile fire zone. I can throw the camera down in an instant if the mission dictates without having to worry about damaging the lens assembly. I like that the camera if the second adapter is on the camera doesn't lengthen the camera to speak of. I have to keep the camera in everything from a back pack that is thrown into a truck and setting on the radio system in the truck. I feel the lens adapter will save me alot of money in repairs on the lens assembly in the future.

useful
well made plastic. you need the kit for protection. worth the $.. an kind of useful.

Lens adapter and hood
Works well with my Canon Powershot S5 IS. Though I did find a seller on the net who has the metal adapter alone for a much cheaper price so ended up getting two more adapters through that site to use with my filters and lenses. Its much quicker to change out the filters and lenses by having an adapter on all of them rather than screw on a different filter or lens on one adapter to change them out.

Awesome Piece of Equipment
I bought this camera for myself the day after Thanksgiving due to the fact the camera was powerful and yet extremely affordable.

The pictures that the camera takes are crisp and clean and I've yet to run into any problems where the pictures have come out 'blurry.'

I also like how Canon added all the accessories required for this camera. With my previous camera I had to buy my own USB Cable and AV Cable.

The camera is pretty small which is good for most but if you have big hands like I do you may end up dropping it one to many times. It will fit into your jean pockets comfortably.

Although the camera takes good pictures by itself I wish there were more detailed options when it comes to taking pictures (example: set shutter speed, set ISO).

A little nice camera
I like this camera a lot. With this price, it performs better than I expected. Small and powerful. Image quality is great. Highly recommended.

The Best Bang for my Buck
Is it this... or the SD1110 IS? Hmmm. It has to be this.
Smaller, heavier (in a good way), and packing more juice
than ever. I was very happy with this. I like the face
tracking, hella slickness. I like this Canon better than
my old camera the Sony T1 something.

Great little camera
This is the first digital camera I have bought for myself, all of my others have been less than 4MP and not my choice. I chose this camera because of it's price, size, and picture quality. I'm not even close to being a professional photographer, but I have been wanting to get more into it and needed at least 10MP to take the pictures I wanted to.

Pros: A decent range of menu and function options, excellent resolution on pictures, lightweight & compact (fits in my pocket). When I started to browse the options in the main and function menus, I was a little overwhelmed because none of my other cameras had so many settings. I HIGHLY recommend reading the user manual, it answered all of my technical questions regarding this camera. Once you know how to change the settings to fit your environment, this little camera takes beautiful pictures, especially in digital macro mode, which I've always had trouble with on other cameras. The image stabilization is good, too. Only a few of my digital macro pictures have come out blurry, because I was not using a hard surface or tripod. The camera lets you know when it is "shaking" too much, which I find to be rather helpful. Another thing I particularly like (which is probably pretty common with more recent cameras I'm sure) is face detection.

Cons: The little cover for the cable to connect the camera to the computer is a little annoying, it kind of gets in the way while you're plugging in the cable.. Also, the cord doesn't go in very well, I had to push a little harder than I'd like with a piece of equipment. I'm worried about this breaking before its time.

It may have just been my computer, who knows, but when I loaded the software that came with the camera I chose to manually install because I didn't want the image viewer it came with (I like to use Preview on my Mac). When I tried to transfer the images to my computer though, it didn't work. I went back and installed the image viewer and voila, no problem. Seeing as how it was separate from the other two items to install, I assumed I could live without it, but apparently not and I really didn't want to add 300MB worth of something I didn't even want to my computer.

Overall, this is a cool camera and I'm definitely happy with it.

As good as it says
The Canon Remote Switch does exactly what you'd expect a cable switch to do. There is nothing difficult about using it, and it opens up a whole world of possibilities for lengthy exposures, as well as non-shaky stop-motion animation. I am very happy with this product.

Canon Remote Switch RS60 E3
This remote works terrific. I have used it to make my own passport photos. I suggest that you buy the wireless remote as well for shots when you are further away from the camera. This remote will work well with a tripod and a telephoto lens to take pictures of the night sky.

Great for night photography
I have used this remote on two occasions. The first was for fireworks at the local 4th of July display. The ability to reduce shake by this accessory is a must have for any shooting at night. The pictures show crisp straight lines that add great dimension to the photo, compared the the shaky zigzags you get with the standard shutter button. The second time I used this was when I had my Rebel XT hooked up to a Meade Telescope, here shake can blur a picture of the moon, or downright destroy an attempt at a picture of a star. Especially with astrophotography by the time the autotimer goes off the item you were trying to take a picture of could be out of frame. I highly recommend this little accessory for anyone doing night shots without a flash on a tripod.

A must have accessory for your DSLR
Never thought a small and well priced unit will make me do more things with my DSLR. I borrowed one from my friend and tried it on my 400D Xti without a hint on how to use it. And I can say I enjoyed using it because it gave me more flexibility on my still and night shots. I can create natural over exposures even on very dim conditions. It just made digital photography more flexible and useful. So I knew I had to buy one for myself. Its already on its way.

So if you want to have more flexibility on your still and night shots, you definitely need this simple and yet very useful gadget.

This is one of those small and simple pieces of gadgets that just makes life easier ...

Works perfectly
I purchased this to take tripod photos and it works like a charm. Especially when taking portraits of kids, they don't even know it is coming!

uv haze filter 77mm
Package had been opened and handled before being shipped..was not in the cleanest of conditions...made me wish I had purchased from a different provider.

Marginal Quality
This is an OK mid-quality filter. However, it will most likely somewhat degrade the quality of your picture. If you have a bargin lens, this is probably a good choice for a protection filter. However, if you have chosen a good quality lens, then this filter will most likely disappoint you with the quality of the pictures you take. A better choice is Hoya's professional line.

1 lost and 2 bad from shipping
I bought a canon lens and the a 77mm lens cover at the same time. The lens is perfect but there was no lens cover in the lens cover package. So they said they would ship me another one with next day shipping which was nice. But the package the lens cover was in was opened, probably during shipping and got scratched and destroyed. So they shipped me another one with next day shipping. The third had the same problem has the second one but this one had some marking like finger prints on it. I simply got a refund now and have to ship three boxes back to them. The problem is the lens package only is held together by one little plastic clip and throwing a little bubble wrap on top of it doesn't protect it from shipping when the box could probably hold 30 of them.

Smart Investment
A must for your lens to protect the front glass. Better than the standard cheap filters.

Works great, i returned a Tiffen
As a long time photographer i needed this filter, would not consider buying any lens without one.
The canon was a good price and does what it says it will do.
i just returned a tiffen filter as it was not as smooth screwing on or off. so not to sound like an employee of canon this thing works. no streaks or haze when i bought it(means it's fresh)and locked it on and that is that.

perfect fit
My daughter had misplaced her other lens cap, felt vulnerable to damaging her lens. I ordered two in case she misplaces another.

Canon Rebel XTi (SLR)
Perfect size for my Canon Rebel XTi (SLR). It even seemed to fit a little better. 5/5 in my book. Wish it were a little more inexpensive, but hey, it's not a cheap hobby is it?

Good but not perfect
this work fine with my additional Lense cover, but this one doesn't have hole to hook the string to camera.
so have to caeful with kkeping my pocket.
except this. it's OK. this is just cap what else I expect

unnecessary really..
i took my camera with me on the trip to italy. my sister was getting married in sicily :)
i bought two of these caps thinking i would probably lose one at some point and be glad to have another. I also bought the 58mm UV haze lens and the lens adapter kit (so i could use the little lens). turns out that (haha) in the few hours i spent looking up info about this camera no one said that you cant use a lens cap anymore if you put a different lens on the camera! i guess its a duh but how should i have known really...
so i have two unopened lens caps here (i found that they dont work with the adapter by using the one that came with the camera in the first place)
im not a camera pro or really good at photography or anything.. ive learned how most of the features of my camera work by trial and error mostly..taken the camera in and out of the bag 20 some times an hour.. and the little UV lens has actually been a great fingerprint and dust cover for me! So my recommendation is not to buy this lens cap and instead pay a few pennies more and get the adapter and UV lens instead.
besides now youre ready to get other lenses and all your pics will be a little nicer thanks to the lens!
haha
ok hope this helps..
im gonna go sell my lens caps on ebay now...

Perfect Fit!
Just got this lens cover earlier. I was a bit worried that it won't fit my lens (i have a Canon Rebel XTi) because of some of the reviews I read...but thank goodness that it fits! it fits perfectly! I'm so happy...I lost my original lens cap when I was in NZ riding the sky cable...hehehe...i might get another one of this just for safe keeping...

I'm very happy about this purchase and it was delivered pretty fast...I ordered it Friday and got it on Monday....

Awesome!

Great promise, but poor execution
I was looking for a replacement to my SD600 that went down for the count with the famed 'lens error'. Not wanting a full-blown DSLR I figured this somewhat pocketable superzoom might do the trick but no luck.

First off, this has a manual flash. A manual flash...in 2009? Why?

Second, this is bulkier to carry around than four SD600's, that's right, four of them!

Third, the LCD is set waaay too bright, even on the dimmest setting. Goodbye battery life...

...and fourth, since I'm on the batteries, it conveniently runs off 2 AA's but the flash recharge time (time between shots) is the slowest of any camera I've used in over 20 years - film or digital! While the flash is recharging, you can't even take other non-flash pictures. Sigh, why Canon, why?

As a result of the flash recharge and screen brightness defects I returned the camera after just one day. For what it's worth, the few pictures I took were reasonably clear but even with the image stabilization they were no better than those taken with my old SD600. Back to the drawing board for me. If you can live with it's shortcomings, the superzoom is nice, but I found the deficiencies too much to bear.

Nice camera overall, good features for the price
This camera is good overall, giving more features than the average point-and-shoot camera.

Pros:

+10x Optical Zoom
+Great Macro quality
+Good Flash
+Large LCD Screen
+Features such as aperture priority and manual focus
+Good build quality
+Image Stabilizer (definitely helps when using the optical zoom)
+Standard Mini-USB port
+Backup battery for clock and settings (so you don't have to reset the clock when replacing the batteries or the SD Card which is located next to the batteries)
+ SD/SDHC card slot
+Face recognition (which is easy to quickly turn on or off with the press of one button)
+Runs off two AAs (Both a good and a bad thing)
+Direct-Print to printer with a USB cable (I've never used this, but could be useful and convenient for some)

Cons:

-Mediocre battery life, particularly when using the flash a lot. Setting the LCD brightness down can help. High-capacity AAs are highly recommended.
-No optical viewfinder
-Optical zoom can't be used with recording video
-Grainy at high ISO speeds (although this is typical of P&S cameras)
-Not very compact and a little heavy. While this is fine for me (I like the form factor) this camera may not be for someone who wants a thin light-weight camera.

While I'm just an amateur photographer, this camera is definitely is worth its money for its impressive picture quality, optical zoom, and features. While the graininess at higher ISO settings is sometimes noticeable, this is common for point-and-shoot cameras. Some may ask why bother with this camera if you can get a 10+ or so Megapixel camera for about the same price or cheaper, it's simple... the SX110 IS takes great pictures, has 10x optical (which is very important in comparison to digital) zoom, and provides many features not found in most point-and-shoot cameras. Megapixels are not benchmark of the quality of the pictures, but rather the size (resolution.) If you wish to have a small compact and simple to use, then you may want to consider something else. If you want an advanced nice P&S with extra features, but don't want to buy an SLR, this is what where you should look.

The perfect point and shoot? Almost!
Here are my first impressions on SX110 IS:
- Auto mode photos are decent; nothing short of or better than other point and shoots.
- The zoom clearly works. I've always had cams with less than 4x optical zoom before, so this one does show the stark difference. I have been able to click good photos of mountains that are anywhere between 10-30 miles from the point of clicking, while zooming on objects close by shows amazing details of the objects which I have not been able to capture with other lower optical zoom cams.
- Focusing is good. With my previous cameras, I've had a 30% rate of good photos vs. bad ones. With this one I think the number must be above 75%.
- Other shooting modes are excellent. For example, none of the photos I've taken in sepia mode are below average. Surprisingly though the camera lacks the color accent and color swap modes seen on other Powershots.
- Battery life is average. But with spare rechargeable batteries (i.e. a total of 2+2=4), clicking up to 300 photos should be possible.
- Flash is where the only problem I've found yet it. It feels very slow to recharge, and thus taking multiple pics in succession in a short time is difficult.
I'm yet to explore more, and maybe I'll update this once I have done so.

grrrreat camera!
I bought this camera for my daughter and when she saw it she was amazed. She recently had a kodak that broke when she dropped it, so she is really excited to have a durable camera that takes great pictures. There are so many different options and buttons, this camera was a great find!

Others better for price
I received this camera for Christmas. My mother-in-law had a Kodak EasyShare which is GREAT! It takes the most remarkably clear pictures for a point and shoot. She could not find that camera for me, so the Canon SX110 IS was recommended. It takes very fuzzy pictures in low light and the stability is not good. There was a world of difference between her pictures and those taken with the Canon (taken at the same place, same light, etc.). After research, I have opted to go with the Panasonic DMC-FZ28K which has remarkable reviews. After I receive it, I will let you know.

In the meantime, if you are going to spend 0+ on a camera, there are certainly ones better than this. I would take a little time and do some research - but the Kodak EasyShare is definitely a better buy.

It's the on off button
While I have read of some people's problems with the unusual shape of the on-off button, that wasn't my problem. After 2 or three shots and struggling to get the button to work, it just didn't. The images I were able with the camera were amazingly good - good color balance and detail. But the flimsy on off-switch?
Amazon was great and accepted the return no questions asked. Even paid for the postage. Maybe I just got a dud, but I didn't want to make the same mistake again and am getting a different camera instead.

Great Picture Quality
The picture quality of this camera is very good both indoor and outdoor. I agree with a few of the reviews that the on/off button is a little difficult and I would prefer a 3 inch LCD screen with no view finder, but with all that said the most important aspect of a camera for me is picture quality and this camera does not dissapoint. I took approximately 150 pictures between Christmas Eve and Christmas day and only about 5 of the pictures were blurry or out of focus.

Canon Powershot SD890IS
This is an excellent camera choice. It's easy to understand and takes great pictures. Canon products are the best when it comes to photography.

super camera
This camera is far better than I imagined. Great picture with such a small product. The elf is so far improved over the last cannon I had.Great value. I highly recommend this camera for the novice person that dosen't know about all those settings on other cameras.Point it and click.

Mostly a great camera
I have been using this camera for about 4 months. This is the 4th (digital) Canon I have purchased, preceded by a rebel and two elph models for family members. The two features that led me to select this are the 5x zoom and the viewfinder. I don't find the viewfinder to be particularly accurate for framing the picture. On the other hand, I don't find the screen to be a particularly accurate rendering of colors or focus. You usually don't have time to fiddle back and forth, after fiddling with the other scene, flash, etc. Go with one and just keep taking pics until you find the balance and focus you like. It's not like you are wasting film.
There are two things that really annoy me about this camera and prevented me from giving it 5 stars. One is the long delay between pushing the button and actually taking the picture. For example, a child or animal will probably move before the camera actually takes the shot, unless they are asleep or focused on something else. Part of it is red eye reduction, but even when you turn off flash, it is still way too long. Kind of like make an appointment to snap the shutter. The other frustration is the outer ring on the navigation control (not the top wheel, the one that changes scene or selects flash). I find I have to spin that thing around a lot before it actually changes the selection and then it may change by 1, 2 or even three options. So you are spinning the stupid wheel back and forth back and forth just to -- say -- turn off the flash so the cat won't turn it's head while you are waiting for the camera to actually take the picture. Cat gets up and leaves. So you need to make those changes in advance before you even start framing. And that means you need to learn the camera quirks so you know it's limits in advance.
The general setting minus flash is good for most pics. The night and indoor options are pretty good as well, minus flash. The flash is what you would expect, pretty short distance, so it is nice that the camera can still take many pictures without it, given adequate ambient light.
There is substantial barrel distortion at 5x, but I expect that with a camera this small. With the good resolution, cropping is an option.
It does have a rather odd algorithm for selecting what it wants to focus on when people are not the subject or there are a lot of other subjects around. It seems to want to find something in the foreground - anything, instead of using the obvious high contrast horizon. An old fashioned "infinity" setting would be nice then you could use the older canon feature of using one area to represent light, contrast balance and then changing the view to something else. When it doesn't find a match in those little boxes, it isn't happy.
My camera makes some really weird almost grinding sounds and the lens spends a lot of time trying to find focus when I am in the 4 to 5x range. Makes the same sound when I turn it off, too. Not sure if that is normal. Again, the time to set up the shot and actually take the shot is too long for a point and shoot camera. More like shoot and point, if you get my drift. In that respect, I like the SD600 more.
Nice camera, generally a decent balance of features, function and the physical constraints of the design. I guess I just expected more from Canon.

Great little Camera for a Younger Child
We decided to purchase this camera for our 7.5 year old son for Christmas. We felt he was too old for the "kiddy" type cameras yet he wanted a digital camera to use. This was the perfect option.

He doesn't use it really often (we're still getting over the holiday busy-ness) but he's quick to grab it when he sees a nice photo opportunity - like tonight he got a shot of the dogs snuggling.

The camera is just his size. It's very easy to use. He's used other, pricier, point and shoot cameras so felt very comfortable grabbing this one up, turning it on and taking a picture. It is easy to learn.

Takes AA batteries - would have preferred rechargeable, but it's not a big deal for him. If he starts using the camera so much we are having an issue with batteries, we'll just use rechargeable AA's.

We purchased a little case for it for under ... makes it easy to clip to a belt loop and protect the camera both.

Great camera for a great price
This is perfect camera for someone who is looking for an entry-level camera that is fairly small, lightweight, has a good battery life (2 AA's), travels well and takes quality pictures on a budget. I wish it had a wrist strap and a slightly faster shutter speed; other than that, it's not fancy, but it does the job quite well!

Great Camera for the price!
I bought this camera for my 8 year old daughter to use (she has taken great photos with it). It is a simple camera, with not a huge number of settings and great video capacity. I also ended using it a lot because it is so light weight and compact (can fit in a pocket). We are very happy with this camera and with good rechargeable batteries it has a nice battery life. A "1 G card" works well, you should buy one with the camera. I would recommend this camera.

Perfect Camera For Child/Pre-teen
We got this camera for our 8 year-old and she loves it. Easy enough for her to use, but not cheap like kid cameras usually are. The software and photo quality are top notch.

Yes, it goes through batteries quickly, I HIGHLY recommend the powerful eneloop rechargables for this camera. Also, get a 2GB or 4GB card when purchasing this camera or just lower the mega-pixels to 3 or 5.

Pros:
Price!
Large screen
Good movie mode
Nice software
Easy to Use
Great photos
Common batteries
SD Card

Cons:
Uses batteries quickly
No Image Stabilization

camera for my mother in law

Giottos AA1900 Large Rocket Blaster
Several have mentioned it is too big, simply remove the red nozzle and place it into the rubber bulb. Next place this combination in a zip-loc bag to keep it clean and dry.

Lastly DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT touch the sensor with the red end. It will leave a smudge that is difficult to clean off, even with Eclipse cleaning solution. Don't ask me how I know this. It could damage the sensor too.

Works well but large size
Blaster seems to work well. It generates fast air gusts. I don't have room in my small camera bag to store something practically the size of another lens, but well worth the money.

dust blower
works great. I was going to send out the camera for cleaning when a friend told be about the Gitto, excellent product

This thing blows. Really well.
Squeeze this baby and you get a strong blast of air. I've used it to blow dust off lenses and my DSLR sensor. I've used it to blow dust away from the subject of indoor macro shots. I also intend to use it to blow dust off slides prior to scanning.

The puff of air is stronger than my previous blower, which means fewer squeezes to remove dust, and it works on stubborn sensor dust my previous blower couldn't remove.

Excellent little blower
I keep a small one of these in my camera bag and the larger AA1900 one at home. Both will do the trick, but the larger one gets those stubborn dust specs off more easily. I have no complaints about the product. It works exactly as described and successfully removes dust specs every time. I would recommend it anyone looking for a product that can safely blow dust off of image sensors or lenses.

Glad I did my homework!
I did my homework when my old Samsung started going out. I looked at the newest Nikon CoolPix, Sony Cybershot, and the Canon SD1100, and after reading the reviews on CNET and playing with each camera in the store, I decided on the Canon. I love the features in this camera, especially the ability to swap colors and focus on one color while leaving the rest of the image b+w! For a amateur who loves to take pictures, this camera is great. The pictures here don't do the camera justice - the pink color is really pretty! I'm happy :)

Must buy!!!!! The cool features are AMAZING!!!!!! Read the Manual
Easy to use and the pictures are fantastic. Read your manual so that you know how to use the cool color features. I sat down and read the parts that I was interested in and about 15-20 minutes later I was set. Use the camera features. You would be surprised how many people don't use the night features and get terrible pictures at night and then complain that the pictures are awful--users fault not the camera. The price is so reasonable. I'm going to try and upload some pictures here of my black and white pictures with only the red color that I took in New York--so cool!

Image Sensor Stopped Functioning after 2 Months
I bought the Canon Powershot SD1100 IS to replace a larger Minolta Dimage camera that I sometimes did not carry on short trips because of its size and weight. I used the Powershot for 2 months and was very happy with the results until one day just before Christmas I powered it up and the image sensor failed to transmit a picture. The camera had NEVER been dropped or roughly handled. I phoned Canon technical support and learned that spontaneous sensor failure is a common problem with this camera. And while the camera is under warranty so repair & return shipping will be free, I still had to pack up the camera and personally pay to ship it to their Powershot repair facility in Illinois. In my opinion, spontaneous failure of a critical camera system is unacceptable, and the fact that Canon knows about this problem and still requires customers to pay to ship their cameras for warranty repair is irresponsible. I would not recommend buying the Powershot SD 1100, and I certainly won't be doing business with Canon again.

Serious Autofocus Problem
The SD1100 IS is my fourth Digital Elph camera. The previous three have been wonderful cameras. The SD1100 IS is not a good camera. It has serious autofocus problems. The autofocus in flash mode is not reliable. Approximately 20% of the photos taken with flash are out-of-focus. I have pictures taken on a tripod, with flash in which not a single object within the photoframe is in focus.

I suggest you avoid this camera.

Good Price, Good Camera
For 9 you really can't beat this camera. It is easy to use and perfect for the Mom or Dad who just wants good photos of their family. I really like the auto correct red eye feature. It doesn't get everyone everytime, but 8 of 10 isn't too bad. I had cannon with a lot more features and decided to step down to this one after I dropped it on the floor. I found I never used the features and the SD1100 seems to have pretty much all I will ever need. I think technology is advancing so quick I will probably want a new camera or drop this one in 2 years and it didn't seem worth the extra money for all the bells and whistles.
