great camera
I am very pleased with this camera. The pictures are sharp and I really love the zoom. I got some great pictures of shore birds in Florida. You can see every detail. We went to a night parade of boats decorated with lights for xmas and I got some wonderful pictures. My friend had a much fancier camera and her pictures are all blurry. I set it on the night scene mode and the camera did all the rest.

Best point & shot digital camera. Very Good Picture and Excellent Zoom. Wi-fi? No big deal.
I have read reviews on TZ5 and people are complaining about indoor picture quality. Despite that, I still went on and buy the TZ50. Though this is a bit more pricy than the TZ5, I didn't find any flaws for taking indoor pictures. Well, I didn't compare side by side with the TZ5. At least from the pictures I took, I dont see any picture quality issues ......
The best part of the camera of couse is the Zoom capability and this is the main reason I buy the TZ50. With the 10X optical Zoom, it pretty much handle all of your picture taking needs in travel, sports, parties, wedding, etc.
Cons of the camera? 1) The size is may be a bit bulky (for ladies) but to me this is OK. The TZ50 is about the same size as my old Canon SD500. 2) Never tried the Wi-fi and not sure how useful it is.

OIS...Wide Angle...Wireless...It's All an Incredible Value!
I absolutely love everything about this camera. It's my first upgrade since my two megapixel Sony MVC-CD250, but I don't get this excited about a camera without a good reason and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50S is everything I could want in a compact camera and so much more.

You get more than just 802.11 b/g wireless connectivity for your extra camera buck with this jewel! You get a few more picture formats over the non-wireless model in some of the zoom ranges and you also get twice as much internal built-in memory, too.

This camera takes beautiful pictures. The OIS (Optical Image Stabilized) Zoom is a huge deal with any camera, and this one utilizes it with two options.

Features are plentiful and quite innovative. Selective playback and delete options which utilize favorites. Picture classification by type. So much stuff works together. I even dig the musical options for the slideshow playback, too...an entertaining bonus! There are travel features and LCD viewing angle options...there are just too many features to repeat in a reasonably sized review.

I have yet to use the wireless feature, but I plan to check it out. That's not to say someone with lot's of (or any) distant, web-surfing relatives to share pictures with wouldn't benefit tremendously from this feature set. I read the wireless manual - yes, its own little bonus manual - and it totally makes sense, and I can see the value in this innovation as well.

I'm absolutely, completely pleased with the feature set, performance, versatility and everything else about this camera.

It saves photos in .jpeg format.

Oh! And the multiple-quality movie modes, including hi-def, are phenomenal. Audio is just typical, as it should be with a camera which is meant for photos.

I totally recommend the Panasonic DMC-TZ50S to anyone interested in a compact point and shoot (but so far beyond the definition) digital camera. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Difficult wi-fi connection
Camera on regular usage is excellent and pictures are very clear. Wi-fi connection is another thing. At home or at the office it takes many tries to have it connect. I had it about a month, then it constantly asks me to turn the camera off and on again and it refuses to connect.I have different ISP's at home and office. Tried it at T-mobile hot spot too same problem. I called Amazon they said it was more than 30 days so I should return to manufacturer.I called the manufacturer and was asked to send it for repairs. Its with Panasonic now and I would wait and see.

Excellent travel camera, but WiFi is of questionable value
It's hard to find fault with the TZ50 as a basic compact ultrazoom camera. The T50 offers all the performance and flexibility of the excellent TZ5, which is certainly why many consumers will find it so appealing. Sure, Panasonic could have made the TZ50 a much more useful photographic tool by including basic features like P/A/S/M modes, but the reality is that most point-and-shoot users won't miss these features. The new WiFi upload feature is sure to be attractive to many consumers looking to quickly share their vacation photos. Nevertheless, it's hard to overwhelmingly recommend the TZ50 over the TZ5.

When everything is said and done, although the TZ50 allows you to wirelessly upload your images to your Picasa web gallery the process isn't nearly as easy as it might sound. Since the TZ5 can be purchased for a full 0 less than the TZ50, I suspect most average consumers will be happier uploading images the "old fashioned way" directly from their desktop or laptop computers rather than stumbling through the clunky WiFi interface on the TZ50.

If the WiFi mode setup doesn't scare you, though, the TZ50 makes an excellent choice for anyone who wants an ultrazoom camera and wants to quickly share photos while traveling.

Reviewed: Panasonic DMC-FX37A 10.1MP Digital Camera
Panasonic DMC-FX37A 10.1MP Digital Camera
I haven't done any extensive testing of this camera, but everything seems fine. This is similar to my Panasonic DMC-TZ3, with less Zoom (5x) but more memory. The DMC-FX37A is quite slim and the battery charger is small, so it is very handy for travelling. I've used it for candle light photos (with and without the 'candle light scene' exposure preset. Not sure which I prefer - I edit my photos in Paint Shop Pro anyway. I did get some usable photos under very low light conditions. The extra wide angle is very handy for situations where you can't back up any further. I haven't used the movie mode yet.
So, I would recommend either the DMC-FX37A 10.1MP, or the DMC-TZ series. The latter is a bit larger with 10x zoom. Both have good lenses (Leica).

good camera
Had and lost a panasonic camera before this one. Previous camera had a 10x optical zoom. I am happy to give up the extra zoom. This camera is much smaller...more pocket size, which is nice. Video is so good you would think it is a video camera. Night shots turn out very nice( did a few cityscape shots over a lake). Haven't actually used the camera a lot yet, but previous Lumix camera was really nice....The 25mm is awesome, it is very cool to take a picture of a room and get the whole room.

A great little camera
I bought this fx37 as a complement to my Canon 40D. First - it is small enougt to always bring it along. To get a good picture the first thing you must do is to bring a camera! Most of the time I bring my fx37 instead of my 40D. Second - the wide angle of 24¤ is great. It is easy to get photoes in a room and get most of the room in the picture. Third - the 5x optical zoom is large enough for most pictures you will need, special handheld with the anti-shake. The anti-shake is a great help to get clear pictures. There are many more things this camera can do - and it is so easy to handle. So, all in all, this p&s is quite a little camera and best of all - it takes GREAT pictures! I can recomend it as an all around camera and especially a camera to bring on regular vacation trips. My 40D will have to wait for the big African safari trips and similar special events.

Case for Panasonic camera model DMC-TZ5
I purchased this camera case to be used with for the Panasonic Model DMC-TZ25. I hoped that this little case would have an extra compartment for a
battery. It did not. The camera fits very well, but that is all it fits.
I also did not get the "bang for the buck". Pricing is too high for this type of product. I was going to sent it back, but by the time I found out what the shipping charges are, I decided to keep it. The material of the bag is just right for what it was designed. Go to Walmart and look around, you might be able to find something for less that will serve you better.

niche design - but some uncomfortabe issues
This case is looking pretty good. Also, handling and opening with two strips is ok.
But if you put in a Lumix LX2, the switch of the flashlight was quiete often turned and open it. Then you have to open the 2 zips for remove the camera- this takes a lot time. Your shot is gone.
Another issue is, that the belt fixing is to small. You can use only slim belts. Clear point of minus.
My recommendation - use only with Lumix TZ-types and slim lady belts ;-).

Good product and fast delivery!
The product is pretty good. It's very stable and protects the camera very well.
The only thing I have to complain is the fact that the covers of the screws inside the case which are glued to the screws, fall apart when it's getting hotter outside and you remove the camera several times.
If you pay attention to that and you remove the camera softly, this does not happen.

Too Bulky!
This item is too bulky. It makes the camera seem bigger than it is. You can't place it in any pocket. That said, the camera in itself is wide due to the protruding lens, but I wished this could have been more ergonomic.

Horrible Design
This case is a horrible design. The camera is tough to get in and out of the case. The case pops open the flash, which then gets stuck inside. The belt loop and hanging ring is lower than the center of gravity, so the case hangs sideways or tips over. The velcro attachment does not stick very well. This is the worst product I've purchased in a long time.

Panasonic camera
Great camera with very sharp photos. This compact camera has many features and is easy to use.

By far the best camera I've found
I did a lot of cross-shopping, asking of friends, reading articles, etc., and I've owned a lot of digital cameras. In short, the lens is great, the picture quality is fantastic (both in resolution (10MP) and the actual image quality itself, due to the lens, processing, etc.) The video mode is very, very good (the best I've found in digital cameras even in the 0 range) especially when you shoot in HD resolution (1280x720, which is 720p HD). My friends are blown away by the video quality. Fast startup speed, great layout, very very long battery life. Nothing but good things to say about this camera.

Porch Pup
I'm very pleased with the Lumix DMC-FX35. I bought this camera for my wife since her Canon SD500 died. I had always liked Canon/Nikon digital cameras because of their size and quality but the Panasonic is ever bit as good and the extra advantage of the wide angle lens is the selling point. I can't fault the pictures I get from it and I know it will fill a spot when we take trips.

Blows my friend's Cannon's out of the water
I don't write reviews of everything I buy. I make reviews when I am especially disappointed, or when I'm really really happy about something.

This the best camera I have ever used. I love this camera!

The wide angle is really appreciated. You can get the shot you want every time.

Nice bright screen, with super-handy controls for common things like Timer Mode, Exposure, Flash on/off and Macro mode. The power switch is never hit by accident. The menus are fast and very well laid out.

Picture quality is excellent.

This camera has fast startup, 2.5 seconds after hitting the power switch, you are ready to take pictures. In addition, the image processing runs very fast, and your picture is ready for viewing so quickly that it is ready by the time you have a chance to put the switch in play mode.

The camera is very small and light, which is amazing considering how much of it must be dedicated to the Leica lens and the optical zoom mechanicals.

The on/off switch, mode selection and the quick menu buttons are a joy to use, very positive action with tactile feedback. Very well organized layout, making the common settings like flash/on/off/auto, and exposure control very easy to get to.

Macro mode works down to 5 cm. The camera makes good choices for exposure while in general purpose mode. However, you have lots of good choices for white balance and exposure control if you don't like the default. You can even point the camera at something white and get a custom white balance to make the pictures look correct no matter what the lighting is.

Battery life is excellent, I've taken hundreds of pictures and only recharged once. The display is nice and bright, outdoor use works well unless the sun is directly shining on the LCD.

The only thing I don't like about is all these silly modes you can put it in like 'Baby1' and 'Baby2'. Do you really need a separate camera mode for baby pictures? These modes go on and on, and it seems kind of nuts to me.

However, these can be ignored easily.

My family has late-model Nikon and Cannon Cameras. I wanted a wider-angle camera and this is the one I chose, after reading some positive comments on Trusted Reviews. This camera is better than the Nikons and Cannons in almost every way.

If you are deciding between this camera and different one, chose this one, it is a truly exceptional device.

great camera, except for the compression
Great Camera!!! The controls are in the right place, and work great. Quick and easy to switch to movie mode. Instead of a push button to turn camera on/off, it has a switch that clicks left or right. Its much better, doesn't get accidentally pushed by someone taking a picture for you or when you pass the camera to someone to show them slides. The same is true for the take/view pictures switch. its a great camera. EXCEPT IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH IMAGE QUALITY!!! The low quality mode is fine, and the images show a lot of compression if you zoom way in. In high quality mode the file sizes of the images double, but the compression is still there just as bad as low quality mode! Something wrong in the programming! In the end, the images are such high resolution, that I really diont mind the compression. Its not horrible. I just keep it in the low quality mode, and things look great for my purposes. Im a professional photographer by the way, and this is my fun camera.

So far so good.
As a Panasonic Lumix TZ3 owner I wanted the ability to manually focus and adjust aperture and that was my main reason for purchasing this camera.

I did not want to go the slr route because of the size and weight of those cameras. I put the heavy camera and the bag of lenses behind me 20 years ago. I wanted a very small and light point and shoot camera with the ability to make manual adjustments. Ironically this camera is lighter than the Lumix TZ3.

I also wanted a camera with an excellent lens. This camera choice wasn't difficult (having owned other Leica's, Nikons, Olympus, and CAnons) knowing first hand that the quality of the Leica lenses were a cut above the others.

Within 2 days of shooting with this camera I found myself using a few of the manual settings as if they were second nature, like the Auto exposure lock which I found to be a great feature. There was no frustration in attempting to take a shot that the camera wouldn't adjust to.

Focusing manually isn't that easy but it isn't necessary to focus manually all the time... It is only needed at those times when the auto focus can't focus on what you want it to focus on.

When working on the photos in Adobe Photoshop I was surprised to discover many shots did not require major adjustments or corrections. MY conclusion is the cameras operating software is top notch. Somehow the camera balances color, saturation and contrast, almost to perfection. I found myself making an adjustment and then re-adjusting back to the original over and over again.

Shooting with a wide angle lens is a must for me and this camera exceeded my emotional need for space...forground, sky, and the panoramic feel of the 16:9 ratio.

My only disappointment is that the mode dial isn't color coded and can't be easily seen without my glasses on like with the TZ3.

Having owned this camera for only a month I can say that so far I am very pleased with the results.

Only average
I purchased the camera expecting the best point and shoot around ( I shelled out 0 for it) and after having the camera for more than six months the pictures are average, not excellent. The images lack sharpness and the shutter is crazy slow, even in burst mode. Of course I wasn't expecting DSLR speed, but if this shutter where a car it would do 0-60 in 15 seconds.

ALSO, why in the world is the camera now more than twice the price I paid for a few months ago? I HAVE NO IDEA!!! But honestly, it's not worth it.

Get the Samsung NV11, it's been getting GREAT reviews all over the place.

great for what it is...(ie *not* a dslr)
I get so tired of people whining about noise on small sensor cameras. "OMG, it is noisier than my 30D/D80/etc." Hmm...what was your first clue? Perhaps that the same number of pixels are being stuffed on a sensor that is almost an order of magnitude smaller in surface area?!?!?

The MP race is stupid, but so are most consumers. I would have preferred that Leicasonic made this a 7MP camera with really high dynamic range and able to shoot high ISO. But they didn't...because consumers want big MP numbers.

This camera is unique because it is native 16x9. That changes the way you frame and shoot. At least it has for me. This also gives you very good manual control over things. And being able to shoot RAW is a big deal to me. I got hooked on that with my D70. And speaking of that D70, I just sold it because I am happier with the images I'm getting out of my D-Lux 3. Yes, they can be noisier, but I also can fit the Leica in my pocket. The best camera is the one you'll have with you to get the shot. This beast is a very good compromise between portability and performance. You can't have it all. Where would you put it?

Nice package, but RAW mode has its flaws...
Leica D-Lux 3 is another offspring of the Panasonic-Leica cooperation, surely benefiting both partners. D-Lux 3 is a re-badged Lumix LX2. Main asset of both cameras is clearly the Leica VARIO-ELMARIT Lens, quite sharp on both ends. Fascinating is the 16:9 ratio wide panorama mode. 10Mpix is a good resolution, helping to get over the usual noise and noise correction smearing of details, which is visible even at ISO 100. If sampled down to approx. 2-3Mpix size, even ISO 400 images can be still well usable. ISO 800 is a stretch, but no worse than any competition in such small cameras, or rather such small sensors.

Of course, all photographers who do not like Jpeg's limited dynamic range are thrilled by the RAW mode! Me too. However, herein I see two issues:

1) First, I would like to know the Analog/Digital resolution in bits per pixel. Neither Panasonic nor Leica seem to be capable of or willing to give an answer to this simple question. My impression from conversions in Lightroom is that the dynamic range of the RAW images is barely over the 8-bit range of the jpegs, maybe 9-10bit/pixel effective.

2) Panasonic RAW format produces files titanic in size, why not to use DNG like in the L1 camera? The D-Lux 3 produces always *.raw and *.jpg file, and they both occupy whopping 22Mbytes typically. This is over twice as much as in a typical 10Mpix Nikon NEF or Canon CR2 file. Writing of such a vast amount of data takes time: Leica D-Lux 3 needs 3-4sec to store a raw file even to an Extreme III class of SD card, and this clearly renders Leica/Lumix RAW mode useless in all action situations.

The LCD display is nice, but it still has a very narrow angle of view. Turn the camera by as little as 30-40 degree, and the colors will strangely change or even reverse.

Nonetheless, D-Lux 3 is a nice and handy camera for numerous occasions. Being in the 0..600 class, it opens up the noble marque Leica to many photographers, who would have otherwise not even considered to invest in equipment with the famous red circular logo! We both with my wife like to have this little great camera handy, and we like to think that the Lumix-Leica cooperation will help Leica to succeed in its transition as a provider of top-notch digital cameras.

old enough to know better
I love my old, heavy, rugged, film cameras, and I love being fluent in their operation. I'm also old enough to dislike lugging heavy cameras around all day, or being noticed for having lots of gear. This camera is tiny and light. It is discreetly understated. And, yes, it makes a remarkable photo. I'm going to have to learn something, but I've held out long enough: I wish I had known sooner that a point-and-shoot could do what this one does.

We left our charger in the hotel during our last vacation... so we bought a replacement. It worked fine so far, and it even charges with cigarette lighter.

Nice little camera
I own two of these and both work great. I bought one 3 yrs ago on my younger brother's advice, but my wife started to monopolize it so got 1 for her for x-mas. Can't compare to others cause haven't owned any. If mine dies I will get another.

Excellent
Excellent camera! Perfect images, turn on very fast, display lcd with amazing and real colors, videos very good and soft, easy connection to pc and fast installation (no need drivers).

Great simple camera
I researched and found this camera for my wife. She is not technologically oriented so I needed one that was simple yet took excellent pictures. This is it. So many features and the automatic settings are so intelligent. It is must have with image stabilization. Now, no pictures get blurred. It also has regular batteries that I replaced with rechargeable ones. She was thrilled at receiving it and the ease of using it. Panasonic did a great job. I bought a more advanced model for myself. My Lumix DMC-TZ3 model is great also.

Not bad; Not great
This camera is a nice size and very easy to operate. The photos come out great and it's very easy to play back your shots and delete ones you don't want to keep.
The bad points are that it tends to be a little slow between shots and can not be recharged on its own (need to provide your own seperate rechargeable batteries or bring lots of spares). Also, the internal memory is very limited so be sure to purchase a memory card (they're cheap these days).
